Fast Relief from Painful Muscle Cramps!

The pillows and tea, shown on the "Products" page, are based on the suggested usage of Common Club Moss (lycopodium clavatum) as described in the book Health Through God's Pharmacy by Maria Treben. Common Club Moss is a mossy evergreen plant found in the temperate and colder regions of Earths northern hemisphere, including North America, Europe and China. American Indians used the plant tea for postpartum pains, fever and weakness. They used the spores as a drying agent for wounds and a treatment for nosebleeds and diaper rash. In folk medicine, the spores were used medicinally for treating diarrhea, dysentery and rheumatism. The spores were also used as a diuretic, particularly for bladder health maintenance and urinary system problems including painful, sandy, and bloody urination, and as a soothing, absorbent powder for skin irritations and inflammations in the case of herpes, dermatitis, eczema, ulcers, boils, nodes, swelling, and other skin infections and abrasions, and bed sores.

Club Moss tea has been used for centuries in China to aid the elderly with memory problems. Recent studies found that Lycopodium clavatum contains an enzyme (Prolyl Endopeptidase-PEP) possibly effective for improving memory and reversing amnesia and Alzheimer's disease. Two species of club moss sought for as foods by the Chippewa also contain two compounds called huperzine A and huperzine B, recognized as a potential treatment for Alzheimer's disease. Huperzine inhibits the breakdown of acetylcholine in the brain, a neurotransmitter that plays a key role in recognition, reasoning and memory.

Maria Treben also recommends using Common Club Moss tea for gout and rheumatism, even if the joints are deformed, and for chronic constipation and piles. For all complaints of urinary and reproductive organs for inflammations and for hardening of the testes, formation of gravel in the kidneys and renal colic. And for problems with the liver including hardening of the liver (cirrhosis of the liver). Continuous consultation with a physician is essential to restoring health.

Club Moss is a radium bearing plant. Dr. Bruno Weinmeister told Maria the following story: As a young student he and his friends had been walking in the mountains. On the path to the hut between dwarfpines he found a common club moss rambler. In high spirits, he wound it around his hat. In the hut one of his friends got a terrible cramp in his foot, that is, the foot stood at an angle to the knee. Massage and embrocations were of no help. Following a suggestion, the young Weinmeister wound the common club moss around the cramped foot up to the knee. In a moment the foot turned back to its normal position. Was this coincidence? On his way home he picked some more common club moss for his landlady who suffered from leg cramps. These brought her immediate relief.

Maria Treben had a friend who was taken to the hospital because she could not urinate. Maria suspected that she had a cramp in her bladder. Her assumption was confirmed when she applied a small bag of dried club moss to the region of the bladder and in a few minutes she was able to urinate normally. Maria herself suffered from high blood pressure for years, mostly due to overfunctioning of the kidneys. Therefore she applied a small bag of club moss to the kidney region overnight. The next day her blood pressure was down from 200 to 165. Since then she only needed to apply the bag of club moss to the kidney region from time to time.

I have personally used a small amount of Common Club Moss in a bag for over 20 years to relieve foot and leg cramps, especially at night. I also use it to relax tense shoulder muscles, and to relieve eyestrain. I fall asleep with the 3.5" x 14" bag over my eyes and the 10" x 14" bag under my feet. I have even used the pillow to stop hiccups. The pillow may be placed under the sheet, in a pillow case, or wrapped in a scarf to tie it to an affected area.
